And its low-priced reputation has helped the company attract higher income grocery shoppers as inflation pinches budgets. On Tuesday, the big-box retailer said it will roll out a private label called BetterGoods, a line of more trend-and chef-driven foods. Walmart is debuting a new grocery brand, as the discounter tries to retain the shoppers it has attracted during a period of high inflation. Another grocery brand it debuted, Favorite Day, is made up of creative takes on ice cream bars and trail mixes. The new private brand will join Walmart's existing collection of private brands in the grocery department, which includes Great Value — the country's largest private grocery brand by revenue, according to Numerator, a market research firm.

I tried all the cheeses I could find at Trader Joe's and ranked each one from worst to best. I didn't like the white Stilton cheese with apricots at all. Trader Joe's creamy Toscano cheese soaked in syrah was my favorite. To find which cheeses you should really be buying at Trader Joe's right now, I purchased 17 different kinds at my local New York City location and tasted each one. Here's how I'd rank them from worst to best — and which I'd definitely buy again.

My family tried peanut butter from four different grocery stores and ranked them from worst to best. The Kirkland Signature organic creamy peanut butter had a great flavor, and my kids loved it. Although big-name peanut butter brands are great, I wondered if I might be missing out on supermarket-brand versions, which are often a decent value. In return for private labeling her product for Trader Joe's, she was told she would receive a modest finder's fee based on the co-packer's profits—not a percentage of Trader Joe's sales. After sharing samples with the co-packer and sending a counteroffer asking for greater transparency, she never heard back from him or from Trader Joe's. The small brand owners said that Trader Joe's tactics were unlike Costco or other big chains that do private labeling. NEW YORK (AP) — It may not be too “appeeling,” but the price tags of some bananas are rising by a few cents. Trader Joe's recently upped the price for a single banana to 23 cents, a 4-cent — or 21% — increase from the grocer's previous going rate for the fruit that had remained unchanged for over 20 years. In contrast to other foods more heavily impacted by inflation, bananas have stayed relatively affordable over time — with average global prices never exceeding more than about 80 cents per pound (0.45 kilograms). Still, banana prices have seen some jumps in recent years. In the U.S., the cost of a pound of bananas averaged at about 63 cents last month.

Trader Joe's has raised the price of its bananas from 19 cents after more than 20 years. Its bananas now cost 23 cents each — an increase of 21%. The retailer is now selling bananas for 23 cents each, its website shows. This is a 20% increase from its previous price point, which it kept for over 20 years. "We only change our prices when our costs change, and after holding our price for bananas at 19¢ each for more than two decades, we've now reached a point where this change is necessary," a Trader Joe's spokesperson told CNBC.

One of Trader Joe's most popular products has just gotten its first-ever price increase. The popular grocery store chain recently raised the price of its individually-sold bananas by roughly 20%, to 23 cents from 19 cents. Trader Joe's bananas have cost 19 cents apiece since the chain first started selling them individually back in 2001. The never-changing price tag became a selling point for the fruit, with signage at some Trader Joe's locations boasting about the store's refusal to increase the cost of potassium-rich produce. The 19-cent bananas have proved so popular over the years that they recently made the Trader Joe's Product Hall of Fame.
